Use the following to calculate how much linear fabric strips and yardage you will need to bind your quilt. This calculator assumes a double bind for extra durability.

 This is the usable width of the fabric. Be careful NOT to include selvage area.

 For Double Binding, 3 to 3.5 inch width is recommended depending on thickness of batting.
Desired Overlap For a right angle join of binding ends, a half inch overlap is sufficient. We suggest giving yourself 4 to 5 inches overlap to be safe :-)
